Cop Land is a 1997 American crime drama written and directed by James Mangold and stars Sylvester Stallone as Freddy Heflin, the sheriff of a small New Jersey town populated almost entirely by officers of the New York City Police Department. Heflin begins to clash with these officers when a young hero cop goes missing and the others attempt to cover it up. Cop Land garnered notice at the time because the small independent film sported a powerhouse cast, which included Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert Patrick, Michael Rapaport, Robert John Burke, Peter Berg, and John Spencer.
