The Cockpit (ザ・コクピット) is a 1993 three-part OVA anime which tells 3 fictional different stories about Axis point of view during World War Two. The first episode "Slipstream" is about a German Pilot who has fallen out of favor but is nevertheless tasked with escorting the first German atomic bomb. In "Sonic Boom Squadron", the viewer gets an insight into the last hours of a young Japanese kamikaze pilot during early August 1945. And finally in the last episode "Knight of the Iron Dragon" two Japanese soldiers, during the Battle of Leyte, embark on a journey trying to keep a promise.

Seen and used by Ensign Nogami in Ep. 2 "Sonic Boom Squadron". Notice: The last mission of these rockets was in June 1945, not in August.

The "Cherry Blossom" attack craft is carried beneath its mother plane. It is released near the target to do its work: A human bomb!
With rocket-assisted high speed, it penetrates the enemy defences. A one-way trip, bringing certain death upon reaching the target. For the pilot, there is no second attack-run. Like the Cherry Blossom, a single dying fall.

Type 96 15 cm Howitzer

At the beginning of the third episode, some Type 96 15 cm Howitzers can be seen used by Japanese soldiers.
