Born by Revolution (Rozhdyonnaya revolyutsiey) is a Soviet made for TV historical films series, released in 1974-1977, directed by Grigori Kokhan and based on the novel "Povest ob ugolovnom rozyske" ("A Tale of Criminal Investigations Department") by Aleksey Nagorny and Geliy Ryabov. The series depicts the history of Soviet Ugolovny Rozysk (criminal police) from 1917 to 1970s, seen through the eyes of Nikolay Fomich Kondratyev (Evgeniy Zharikov). In the first film Hard Autumn (Trudnaya osen) Nikolay Kondratyev, a former peasant lad, begins his work in Petrograd Militsia soon after the Russian revolution 1917.

Nagant M1895

Nagant M1895 revolvers are widely used by Ugolovny Rozysk personnel, notably Nikolay Kondratyev (Evgeniy Zharikov), Aleksey Bushmakin (Viktor Shulgin), Nil Kolychev (Vadim Medvedev), Stepan Sergeev (Uldis Pucitis) and Grisha (Sergei Podgornyj), and also by criminals and counterrevolutionaries. Most revolvers are of anachronistic post-1930 version.

Short-barreled Mauser C96 "Bolo" pistols, anachronistic for 1917, are also used by Ugolovny Rozysk and Militsia personnel, notably Nikolay Kondratyev (Evgeniy Zharikov), Vasily Voinov (Stanislav Borodokin), chief of Militsia patrol Lebedev (Sergey Dvoretskiy), and also by criminals.

Degtyaryov DP-27 (visually modified to resemble Lewis)

A Degtyaryov DP-27, visually modified to resemble Lewis, is briefly seen in hands of a militsia member. It appears to be the same prop, used in numerous movies by Dovzhenko Film Studios, identified by its barrel shroud of very unusual shape and fake flat magazine in Lewis style, rather than more tall magazine of Degtyaryov DT machine gun, used by most similar props from other Soviet film studios.

Vickers 2-pounder "Pom-Pom"

A Vickers 2-pounder "Pom-Pom" autocannon on static mount is seen in documentary footage of Russian revolution, taken in October 1917 at Bolsheviks headquarters in Smolny. Another photo of same scene can be seen in Soviet historical fim series, The State Border (Gosudarstvennaya granitsa). 2-pounder "Pom-Pom" autocannons were purchased by Russian Army and Navy during the Great War and used on ships, armoured cars and static AA mountings.
