Body of Lies is the 2008 feature film adaptation of the novel of the same name written by David Ignatius, an American journalist and author. The espionage thriller was directed by Ridley Scott and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Roger Ferris, a CIA operative working in the Middle East who is determined to locate the leader of a terrorist organization responsible for a series of bombings in Europe. During his search, Ferris is continually under the watchful eye of his ambitious CIA boss Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe, whose role in the film would mark the fourth of five collaborations with the director).

Assault Rifles

Heckler & Koch G36

The Heckler & Koch G36 is seen briefly in the opening scene where British policemen move into a building in the UK where a terrorist is making a bomb. The rifles have RIS rails on the top of the receiver and have EOtech Holographic sights mounted and flashlights mounted to the side of the barrel. Because the rest of the barrels weren't exposed to light, it is hard to tell if they were full size G36 or Ks. Though the scene was set in the UK, it was actually filmed in the US state of Maryland.

An M4 was briefly seen in the opening scene in the hands of one of the British police Specialist Firearms Officers who raid a terrorist hideout. During the battle scenes in Iraq, US Marines are seen on patrol armed with M4A1s mounted with ACOG and EOTech sights. One of the US Marines has his EOTech sight mounted backwards, apparently mistaken for a reflex sight. US Army soldiers at a checkpoint in Samarra are also armed with the M4A1.

Sniper Rifles

Accuracy International Arctic Warfare (Airsoft Replica)

A British police sniper provides cover with what appears to be an Accuracy International Arctic Warfare sniper rifle. The weapon appears to actually be an airsoft replica based on the bright silver ejection port, bull barrel with no muzzle brake, lack of a finger cut-out in the magazine well, and the fact that it is never shown firing.
