Pump-action shotguns were not originally the main line of the [[Beretta]], as their popularity in Europe was very small. Their development was originally intended for export to the United States, and originated as a sideline of semi-automatic shotguns. The first model was the RS-151, introduced around 1960. It was subsequently replaced by the RS-200 in 1967; in 1980, a RS-200 P variant was introduced, designed specifically for police purposes. An updated model RS-202 was presented in 1985.
