Becker Type M2 - 20mm

The Becker Type M2 20mm is a machine gun that was developed by Germany in 1913 and used in World War 1, and which pioneered the use of advanced primer ignition (API) blowback in heavy automatic weapons. The Type M2 was refereed to as a machine gun at the time, but is closer to a modern auto-cannon. The Type M2 was produced by two different companies during the war, Becker and MAN. In 1921, three years after the war ended, the Swedish company SEMAG took over production of the Type M2 under the name SEMAG 20mm. Shortly after, the SEMAG company went out of business and Oerlikon took the rights to the design, which served as the pattern for the well known Oerlikon 20mm Cannon.
