This is not a smith. It's an Arminius, or a High Standard Sentinel revolver. They were also sold to Sears, and Ace hardware I believe. Look a little closer at it.

Kit (Martin Sheen) carries and uses a Savage 99R during most of the film, asking for .300 caliber ammunition towards the end.

One of the policemen chasing Kit uses an 03A3 Rifle . He tells Kit he fired a ".30-06" when Kit asks what kind of ammunition was being fired at him.

Remington 03A3 rifle - .30-06. There were only two manufacturers of the 03A3, Remington and Smith Corona (the typewriter company).
