The first percussion pistol for the cavalry of the imperial-royal army was introduced in 1844. In the imperial-royal army the earlier flintlocks were modernized on the basis of Vincenz Augustine's plans, at pistols in the beginning only the lock was changed for a new one. So the Kavalleriepistole M. 1851 is the old Model 1798 cavalry pistol, who receives the percussion lock by Augustin system.
