The Assassination of Trotsky is a 1972 British-Italian-French biopic directed by Joseph Losey and depicting the last year of the life of Leon Trotsky and his assassination by Ramón Mercader (Frank Jackson in the movie) in August 1940.

Various revolvers

A Mexican police detective holds a snub nose revolver. A uniformed officer next to him holds what appears to be an M1911.

M1911-style pistol

An M1911-style pistol is briefly seen in hands of Salazar (Enrico Maria Salerno) (this character is a substitution of real person of David Alfaro Siqueiros, a Mexican painter) when he, disguised as a Mexican police officer, leads his men to attack Trotsky's house. Frank Jackson (Alain Delon) also uses a 1911 in the climactic scene.

Submachine Guns

M1928A1 Thompson

Salazar and several of his men use M1928A1 Thompson SMGs during the attack on Trotsky's house. Trotsky's bodyguards, including Jim (Michael Forest) and Sam (Joshua Sinclair), also carry Thompsons.

Most of Salazar's men, disguised as Mexican police, carry M43 Spanish Mauser, standing for correct M1936 Mexican Mausers.
