The [[Type 77]] is the starting handgun in game. It is chrome plated. Used by JD and as a sidearm by Shanghai police officers and Fortieth Day Initiative mercenaries. This is by far the weakest weapon of the game and the overall improved stats of the Desert Eagle make it an insignificant weapon.

It can be customized with a 33 round magazine. Alice is given one of these when you save her at the Embassy with a standard 20 round magazine. Salem later uses these akimbo in the final cutscene of the game.

The [[Desert_Eagle_Mark_XIX|Desert Eagle Mark XIX]] is labeled as a ".44" in the game, even though it has no fluted barrel. It starts with a eight round magazine, but can be upgraded to 12 rounds. Capable of blowing an enemy's head off in one shot. It is the sidearm of Breznev. Compared to the Type 77 this is the best and only handgun aside from the Glock that players should choose.

The American winner of the ''Army of Two'' weapon design contest was the AS-KR1 ("Ass Kicker 1") from internet personality Joe "Angry Joe" Vargas. The design was based on suggestions from his fans, with the submitted concept art being created by Marek "MaroBot" Wodzinski, a Polish artist known for creating title card art for various Channel Awesome shows.

Chambered in 7.62 X 39mm with enhanced accuracy due to the built in ranged scope.  The weapon comes with an underslung shotgun that can chamber regular shotgun shells, airburst shells, and less lethal tazer shells (supposedly to imitate the webshow host's chain lightning ability).

==Sniper Launcher aka S8-Z "Grand Pinger"==
The developers of Army of Two: The 40th Day held a gun design contest in which the winners will have their guns put into the game. One of the winners was the Grand Pinger, designed by members on an online image board called OPERATORchan. The rifle's name is derived from the M1 Garand and the distinctive sound that is made when a clip is ejected. The gun is a modified Mosin-Nagant with a shotgun stock, backwards mounted SVD magazine, EoTech along with a backwards mounted ACOG. It also features a backwards vertical grip, a paintball gun hopper, a backwards laser sight, a backwards flashlight, and a small suppressor. The final product, while retaining many features of the original, has been modified. It was entered as a joke, with a description describing it as "designed by Mack of FutureWeapons".

The other winner of the weapon design contest was the Grand Pinger, a joke "tacticool" gun designed by members of OPERATORchan and voted for primarily by members of that board and 4chan's /k/ weapons board: the description was "designed by Mack of FutureWeapons." Army of Two: The 40th Day (2010)

Handguns

Type 77

The Type 77 is the starting handgun in game. It is chrome plated. Used by JD and as a sidearm by Shanghai police officers and Fortieth Day Initiative mercenaries. This is by far the weakest weapon of the game and the overall improved stats of the Desert Eagle make it an insignificant weapon.

Converted Glock 17

The G18C is in fact a converted Glock 17, as it lacks the slide-mounted selector switch. It can be customized with a 33 round magazine. Alice is given one of these when you save her at the Embassy with a standard 20 round magazine. Salem later uses these akimbo in the final cutscene of the game.

Desert Eagle Mark XIX

The Desert Eagle Mark XIX is labeled as a ".44" in the game, even though it has no fluted barrel. It starts with a eight round magazine, but can be upgraded to 12 rounds. Capable of blowing an enemy's head off in one shot. It is the sidearm of Breznev. Compared to the Type 77 this is the best and only handgun aside from the Glock that players should choose.

Fan Designs

These two weapons are only available to players with a save file from the original Army of Two, and were the winners of a promotional "design a weapon" contest held while the game was in development.

AS-KR1

The American winner of the Army of Two weapon design contest was the AS-KR1 ("Ass Kicker 1") from internet personality Joe "Angry Joe" Vargas. The design was based on suggestions from his fans, with the submitted concept art being created by Marek "MaroBot" Wodzinski, a Polish artist known for creating title card art for various Channel Awesome shows.

Chambered in 7.62x39mm (which Joe mistakenly believed made it a battle rifle) with enhanced accuracy due to the built in ranged scope. The weapon comes with an underslung shotgun that can chamber regular shotgun shells, "smart" airburst shells, and less lethal "tazer" shells.

Stock AS-KR1. It cannot be customized.

Sniper Launcher aka S8-Z "Grand Pinger"

The other winner of the weapon design contest was the Grand Pinger, a joke "tacticool" gun designed by members of OPERATORchan and voted for primarily by members of that board and 4chan's /k/ weapons board: the description was "designed by Mack of FutureWeapons." The rifle's name is derived from the M1 Garand and the distinctive sound that is made when a clip is ejected. The design is a hacked-together Photoshop of a Mosin-Nagant with a shotgun stock, backwards mounted SVD magazine, EoTech along with a backwards mounted ACOG. It also features a backwards vertical grip, a paintball gun hopper, a backwards laser sight, a backwards flashlight, and a small suppressor. The in-game version, while retaining many features of the original, has been modified.
