Angela Bassett is an African-American actress who appears as Sgt. Athena Grant in the television series 9-1-1 in addition to such feature films as Strange Days, Olympus Has Fallen, and as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther as well as several other productions within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her breakthrough role was as singer Tina Turner in the 1993 feature film What's Love Got to Do with It?, a role for she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She returned to the MCU to voice Queen Ramonda in the Disney+ animated series What If...?.
