The game is multiplayer-only and more streamlined to emphasizes small unit tactical maneuvers, but still realistic overall. Like the first game, players always see themselves as the US Army, and see their opponents as the OPFOR faction. Originally, weapons in the OPFOR armory can only be picked up from dead enemies and usable only in that game. Following the March 13th, 2018 update on the PS4 and the April 12th, 2018 update on the PC, OPFOR weapons are added to the equipment customization menu. They can be used if the player first "secures" them by eliminating enemies wielding them, so despite their availability, they're still more or less faction exclusive.

America's Army: Proving Grounds
America's Army Proving Grounds.jpg
PC Boxart
Release Date: 2013
Developer: United States Army
Publisher: United States Army
Series: America's Army
Platforms: PC, PS4
Genre: First-person shooter

America's Army: Proving Grounds is the sequel to America's Army 3, released in 2013. It is set in the same fictional East European region of Czervenia as America's Army 3, with the background being that the player is an 11B Infantryman practicing combat maneuvers at Joint Training Center Griffin located in the region for future operations.

US Army weapons and optics are closely modeled after real equipment, while OPFOR weapons and optics are stylized portrayals of real weapons and optics.

The following weapons appear in the video game America's Army: Proving Grounds

US Army Weapons

Handguns

Beretta 92F/FS

The Beretta 92F/FS appears as a US Army sidearm, incorrectly referred to as the "M9A1".

Beretta 92FS - 9x19mm
The Beretta in the weapon menu (functionally a model gallery; you can't do anything with the guns here). Note the Omega Arsenal and Huntsville, Alabama markings, as well as the Omega Arsenal logo on the grip.

M17 MHS

The M17 MHS is added on the October 24th, 2018 update as a US Army weapon.

M17 MHS with 21-round magazine - 9x19mm
The M17 MHS in the weapon menu.

Springfield Armory Loaded MC Operator

The "M1911A1" US Army weapon appears to be a Springfield Armory Loaded MC Operator pistol with a threaded barrel and custom front strap serrations.

Springfield Armory Loaded MC Operator - .45 ACP
The M1911 in the weapon menu.
Right side. Note the Omega Arsenal markings on the slide, and the Redstone Arsenal marking on the grip; the latter is a real arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP7A1

The Heckler & Koch MP7A1 was officially added to the game on the October 24th, 2018 update as the VIP's main weapon. Prior to its official release, it was originally accidentally added to the weapon menu around early 2018, during which it can be seen but was unusable, and was later removed from the menu in the March 13th, 2018 update, cited as a bug.

Heckler & Koch MP7A1 with 40-round magazine - 4.6x30mm
The MP7A1 in the weapon menu. For no clear reason, it's placed in the Enemy Weapons list, despite being used by the BLUFOR VIP.

Assault Rifles

M4A1

The M4A1 is a US Army weapon.

M4A1 - 5.56x45mm NATO.

Shotguns

Remington 870 MCS

The US Army shotgun is the Remington 870 MCS.

A weird modified model is used on a piece of in-game graphic; the MCS here has a shortened barrel and magazine tube, roughly at the length of the Remington 870 MCS Entry, though it still has small rails on the short bit of barrel it has like on the full-length MCS.

The M83 smoke grenade is the US Army smoke grenade. An alternate grenade option, the fictional "M106 Fast Obscurant Grenade" (FOG for short), is an airburst smoke grenade that quickly releases a cloud of smoke for cover. Model-wise, it appears to be the same M83 model but retextured.

OPFOR Weapons

Handguns

Browning Buck Mark Micro Bull Stainless

The Browning Buck Mark Micro Bull Stainless with a wooden grip appears as the "CZ2", and is the standard OPFOR handgun. It is a counterpart to the Beretta, and holds 15+1 rounds. It can also be unlocked for use by the US Army by completing an achievement.

Right side. Based on the weapon names from AA3, Obran is a Czervenian weapons manufacturer.

Assault Rifles

AK-104

The "AK-105" is the OPFOR equivalent to the M4A1. It is actually an AK-104 with a custom stock.

Close up on the left side. Note that for some reason, it is marked as being chambered in 5.56x45mm, despite being clearly a 7.62x39mm AK.
Close up on the right side, showing that the magazine markings are simply mirrored on this side.

AKM

The "AK-107" is the OPFOR equivalent to the M16A4, featuring the corresponding three-round burst mode that doesn't exist on real AKs. It is actually an AKM with custom synthetic parts.

AK-Alfa

A slightly modified AK-Alfa was added on the October 24th, 2018 update as the "CZ Alpha". It is the OPFOR equivalent to the SCAR-H.

Close up on the right side. The gun has the rough proportions of the PSL, the PSL's magazine position, and the PSL's safety lever. The gun also has the SVD's handguard and dust cover. Additionally, the visually altered in-game model also has the dust cover extended over the rear half of the ejection port, leaving it comically tiny and seemingly mispositioned.
