The Adjutant of His Excellency (Adyutant ego prevoskhoditelstva) is a Soviet 1969 mini-series directed by Evgeniy Tashkov. The story is set in 1919-1920, during the Russian civil war. Pavel Andreevitch Koltsov (Yuriy Solomin), an agent of Red intellegence service, infiltrates the White Volunteer Army and becomes an adjutant to General Kovalevsky (Vladislav Strzhelchik). He successfully performs several operations, including the uncover of the White agent in Reds headquarters, but at last Koltsov has to expose his true identity when he destroys the train that delivers British tanks, sent to White troops, to frontline.

Nagant M1895

Nagant M1895 revolvers are most widely used handguns in the series. Both pre- and post-1930 versions can be seen. In various scenes Nagants are used by Capt. Pavel Koltsov (Yuriy Solomin), Yura Lvov (Aleksandr Milokostyj), White Army officers Rotmistr (Capt.) Volin (Oleg Golubitsky), Col. Lebedev (Yuri Leonidov), Poruchik (Lt.) Mikki (Igor Starygin), Red Army commander Nikolay Sirotin (Andrei Petrov), Cheka operatives Semyon Krasilnikov (Evgeniy Shutov), Pyotr Frolov (Nikolai Timofeyev), Sazonov (Valentin Grachyov), Klyonkin (Artur Nishchenkin), Ataman Angel's brigands Miron Osadchiy (Viktor Pavlov), Timka (German Yushko), Pavlo (Mikhail Kokshenov), Red agent Startsev (Evgeniy Teterin), White agent "Bald" (Sergey Polezhaev), a prison guard (Mikhail Bocharov) and some uncredited Reds and Whites.

Mauser C96

In Ep.1 Ataman Angel (Anatoli Papanov) carries a Mauser C96 pistol. During the escape of a group of Whites and Reds, previously captured by Angel's men, Ataman's Mauser is seen in hands of Capt. Evgeniy Rostovtsev (Valentin Smirnitskiy). A number of holstered Mausers can be seen among the guns, delivered by Miron Osadchy to White agents in Kiev.

Mauser C96 M1930

Anachronistic Mauser C96 M1930 is a personal handgun of Cheka operative Semyon Krasilnikov (Evgeniy Shutov) (in one scene he is seen with a Nagant revolver instead of his usual Mauser). A C96 M1930 is also used by one of Angel's brigans.

In Ep. 1 a White officer holds a pistol that appears to be an M1911A1. Probably the same gun is also seen among the guns, delivered by Miron Osadchy to White agents in Kiev.

Several of Angel's brigands, notably Pavlo (Mikhail Kokshenov), are armed with "obrez" sawed-off rifles.

Berdan Shotgun

One of Angel's brigands, Nikita (Yuri Medvedev), is armed with a "Berdanka" bolt action shotgun. The shape of the stock and bolt handle allows to differ it from later "Frolovka" shotguns, based on Mosin Nagant rifles.

The series shows a wide variety of handgun holsters, including some anachronistic.

White officer in center carries a holster for TT-33. He holds an M1911A1 pistol that hardly can fit in TT hoslter.

Capt. Viktor Osipov (Konstantin Zheldin) carries a Nagant M1895 holster.

Red Army commander Vasiliy Reznikov (Ivan Solovyov) carries a TT holster.

Tanks

British tanks, issued to White troops, are seen in the final episode. These are full-size mockups of Mark V Composite. Probably the mockups are based on genuine Mark V Composites, preserved in Lugansk and Kharkov museums.

In the scene of railway accident, organised by Koltsov, the tanks are scale models.
