The End of Ataman (Konets atamana) is a Soviet 1970 adventure movie directed by Shaken Ajmanov. The story is set in 1920-1921 in Semirechye (Zhetysu) region in Central Asia (in modern days this region is in Kazakhstan and China). The local leader of White Army and hard enemy of Soviet power is Cossack Ataman Aleksandr Dutov. Chekist Kasym-khan Chadiyarov (Asanali Ashimov) infiltrates Dutov's headquarters and plays a key role in the victory over Ataman.
This movie starts the tetralogy about the adventures of Chadiyarov, followed by Trans-Siberian Express (Transsibirskiy ekspress) (1977), The Manchurian Variant (Manchzhurskiy variant) (1989) and Who are You, Mr. Ka? (Kto vi, gospodin Ka?) (2009).
The following weapons were used in the film The End of Ataman (Konets atamana):
Handguns
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are widely used throughout the movie, by both Cheka agents and White officers. Pre- and post-1930 versions of Nagant are seen.
Russian Nagant 1895, produced 1920s - 7.62x38R Nagant. The rounded front sight is a sign of revolvers produced from 1890s until 1930.
Nagant M1895 Revolver - 7.62x38R Nagant. This example was dated 1939 manufacture and was a War time issued weapon. Note the angular front sight which was used from 1930s.
The Chief of Jarkent
Militsia Pyotr Krivenko (
Vladimir Gusev) aims a Nagant. This is a pre-1930 model with rounded front sight.
The Chief of Jarken
Cheka Juhan Ionis (
Gennadi Yudin) draws his Nagant.
Chekists put their sidearms on the table: Nagant M1895 revolvers of Juhan and Krivenko, Nesterov's
FN Model 1922 and Suvorov's
FN Model 1900.
Chadiyarov's agent Akim (
Nurzhuman Ikhtymbaev), impersonating a smuggler, fires at pursuing White cavalrymen. His Nagant is also of pre-1930 version.
A White Army officer, leading the chase after Akim, fires a Nagant that is of post-1930 version with angular front sight.
But he is also shot and drops the gun.
Wounded Chadiyarov holds his revolver.
Chadiyarov's assistant in disguise fires at pursuing Cossacks. Again the revolver is of pre-1930 version.
Chadiyarov holds a pre-1930 Nagant on a B&W promotion still.
FN Model 1922
In several scenes Chekists Kasym-khan Chadiyarov (Asanali Ashimov) and Nesterov (Yuriy Sarantsev) carry anachronistic FN Model 1922 pistols (probably the same movie prop reused), carries in wooden holster of Mauser C96. There is no evidence that FN 1922 in reality was ever used with any kind of holster-stock.
FN Model 1922 with wood grips - .32 ACP
Chadiyarov carries an FN Model 1922 in "Broomhandle" holster. The shape of the grip matches FN pistol.
The hammerless slide of FN pistol is seen when Chadiyarov opens the holster.
Nesterov carries supposedly same gun.
Chekists put their sidearms on the table:
Nagant M1895 revolvers of Juhan and Krivenko, Nesterov's FN Model 1922 and Suvorov's
FN Model 1900.

FN Model 1900
The Chief of Semirechensky Cheka Nikolay Petrovich Suvorov (Viktor Avdyushko) owns a nickel plated FN Model 1900 pistol.

Shotguns
Sawed-off Single Barreled Shotgun
White counterintellegence agent Usen (Zeinullat Setekov) has a sawed-off Single Barreled Shotgun that is taken by Kasym-khan Chadiyarov (Asanali Ashimov). It appears to be some Izhevsk exposed hammer model, possibly IZh-17.

Heavily anachronistic RPK machine gun is seen in Ataman Dutov's headquarters. It is described as the "most modern Japanese machine gun".
