About
Fabricaciones Militares, full name Fabricaciones Militares Sociedad del Estado (Spanish for Military Industries State Corporation) is an Argentinian state-owned arms manufacturer headquartered in Buenos Aires. It was founded in 1941 to expand Argentinian defense industry production amidst a decline in imports due to the Second World War. FM has produced or currently produces small arms such as license-produced copies of the FN FAL, FN MAG, Browning Hi-Power, and M3 Grease Gun as well as indigenous designs like the FARA 83 and FMK-3. The company also produces a variety of Argentinian-designed artillery systems in addition to various forms of small arms and artillery ammunition. In addition to military equipment, FM also produces chemicals, mining explosives, trains, and railcars.
