Escape from Mogadishu (Korean title: 모가디슈, Mogadisyu; lit. "Mogadishu") is a 2021 Korean action-drama film. The film, which is based on true events, takes place in 1991 at the height of the Somali Civil War and the military coup d'état against the government of Somali general and president Mohamed Siad Barre, and follows a group of South and North Korean diplomats and their families as they attempt to hide from and escape the violence and anarchy-filled streets of the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

Rebel pictures
Somali rebels are seen holding multiple North Korea-supplied firearms in two images. The photo on the left is a real picture taken by the AFP on January 30, 1991 of United Somali Congress rebels celebrating after Mogadishu was captured by their forces, while the photo on the right is another AFP picture of more United Somali Congress fighters taken on May 15, 1992. Both photographs are anachronistic to the film's setting.

In the image on the right, the rebels can be seen holding an M16A1, a Colt M1911A1, another G3, two AKMSes, and two Zastava M70AB2s. Dae-jin identifies an AKMS as a North Korean Type 68, which is a copy of the AKM.
