The movie follows Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura, a pair of sweepers (private investigators/bodyguards/assassins) in Shinjuku City, Tokyo after they are hired to protect the daughter of a recently deceased engineer, Ai Shindo. His death turns out to not be an accident as shady figures move to kidnap Ai Shindo since she is the key to unlocking the military technology her father was developing. City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes (JP:劇場版シティーハンター 新宿PRIVATE EYES Gekijō-ban Shitī Hantā Shinjuku PRIVATE EYES) is a spinoff of the Japanese anime and manga series of the same name.

It is up to Ryo, Kaori and their compatriots to put an end to the plot.

A sequel titled City Hunter: Angel Dust was released in 2023.

The following weapons were used in the anime film City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes:

SPOILERS.jpg WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Revolvers

Colt Python

The Colt Python is once more the weapon of choice used by the protagonist Ryo Saeba. He uses it in both single-action and double-action (with the cylinder correctly depicted indexing while the hammer is cocked).

Colt Lawman Mk III Snubnose

The Colt Lawman Mk III Snubnose is once more the weapon of choice of Kaori Makimura. Unlike in the original anime, it isn't nickel plated.

Smith & Wesson Model 15

In one of the manga panel compilations in the opening credits, Miki can be seen with a Smith & Wesson Model 15

Pistols

Glock 17 Gen 3

The Generation 3 Glock 17 is seen in the hands of the kidnappers/assassins targeting Ai Shindou. They lack the picatinny rail flats much like the HK416D seen below. The Glock 17 is also used by Kei Hieda and a bodyguard during the climax.

Kei Hieda dropping his pistol after also being shot in the shoulder by Ryo.

Heckler & Koch USP Compact

PMC operatives and the PMC Captain use the Heckler & Koch USP Compact pistols as their standard sidearms. They appear to be fitted with 10-rounder magazines with compact floorplates.

Walther PPK

The Walther PPK is seen in the credits used by Kurosaki (although he uses a Walther P5 in the original anime) and by Rosemary Moon/Bloody Mary.

Unknown Pistol

Tokyo Metropolitan Police are seen with unknown pistols in their holsters. They don't appear to be Nambu Model 60 revolvers due to the flush bottom of the pistol grips.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department officers cordon off the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
Rear view of their holsters with the rear of the pistol visible as they arrest the PMCs. Note the 1999 Nissan Civilian bus.

Submachine Guns

Beretta M12S

In a panel from the manga in the opening credits, Miki can be seen firing a Beretta M12S.

Heckler & Koch MP5K

One of the PMC operatives uses a Heckler & Koch MP5K while fighting Ryo in the Shinjuku Golden Gai. Ai Shindou picks it up and uses it while trying to defend Ryo.

Shotguns

Winchester 1887

Ryo creates a sawed-off Winchester 1887 similar to the one seen in Terminator 2: Judgment Day and uses it to great effect against the airborne drones.

Rifles

Heckler & Koch G3A3

A Heckler & Koch G3A3 can be seen in the ending credits.

Heckler & Koch G36K

Unknown soldiers are armed with what appears to be the Heckler & Koch G36K when "Warfare Maker" Vince Ingrado talks about profiting from war.

Without EOTech.

Heckler & Koch HK416 D10RS

PMC operatives use the Heckler & Koch HK416 D10RS as their primary armament. They are all fitted with Aimpoint M68 optics mounted on Wilcox Comp-M mounts, Gen 1 Magpul MBUS Flip-Sights and KAC Forward Pistol Grips. Much like the aforementioned Glock 17, the picatinny rails all lack flats.

Ditto.

...but get disabled by Ryo's shots.

Machine Guns

M60E3

During the firefight with the PMCs, Umibozu switches his SMAW with an M60E3. He is somehow able to destroy a lobby balcony with it, causing it to collapse.

Launchers

Somehow he fires with the forward safety lever. He should have been holding the lever then pushing the trigger (which he did have his thumb on in the prior screenshot of him aiming). Also the trigger and safety lever should both be red.

RPG-7

One of the terrorists in the opening uses a RPG-7 while chasing Kaori (who is driving Ryo's Mini Cooper MKI). One of the PG-7V rockets almost destroys the iconic Godzilla head mounted atop the Shinjuku Toho Building.
