Elite Squad (Portugese: Tropa de Elite) is a 2007 Brazilian action film directed by José Padilha that follows members of Brazil's Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (Special Police Operations Battalion), better known as BOPE. Padilha would go on to direct the 2010 sequel Elite Squad: The Enemy Within.
The following weapons were used in the film Elite Squad:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Pistols
Glock 25
Neto uses two handguns in the movie: a compact Glock, and a Taurus PT92. The Glock could be a Glock 19, 23 or 25. It's most likely a Glock 25 in .380 ACP given the commonality of .380 Glocks in Brazil, as at the time of this film's release, the possession of handguns in common, larger calibers such as .45 ACP or 9x19mm was heavily restricted by Brazilian law.
Taurus PT92
The Taurus PT92 is used both by the police and by drug dealers.
Revolvers
Taurus Model 83
Matias (André Ramiro) uses both a Taurus PT92 and a revolver, which appears to be a Taurus Model 83 (a version of the Taurus Model 82 with adjustable sights), but it is not seen close enough for positive identification.
Submachine Guns
IMI Micro Uzi
An IMI Micro Uzi is used by one of the drug dealers in a shootout.
Heckler & Koch HK94A3
A chopped and converted Heckler & Koch HK94A3 is used by Captain Nascimento (Wagner Moura) in several scenes, as noted by its lack of paddle magazine release and barrel lugs, and the metal lower receiver.
INA Model 953
The INA Model 953, the Brazilian version of the Danish Madsen M50, is used by police officers. Recognized by its stamped metal body which, literally, is held together by the barrel nut (which was known to come loose on its own, spilling the internal mechanisms on the ground).
Assault Rifles
Colt AR-15A2 Government Carbine
A Colt AR-15A2 Government Carbine or similar AR-15 carbine is used by Neto (Caio Junqueira) during the second half of the movie, this time during the attack in a favela full of gang members
A BOPE officer uses an AR-15 carbine with a fixed stock and 20 round magazine.
M16/SP1
Captain Roberto Nascimento (Wagner Moura) carries several guns through the movie. One of them is a M16/SP1 with M16A2 hand guards, the rifle carried by most of the men of the BOPE in the movie.
A drug dealer holds a shortened M16 type rifle with A2 handguards and a 20 round magazine
IMBEL M964
An IMBEL M964 (Brazilian license-built FN FAL 50.00) is used by the drug dealers as well as a DMR by at least one of the BOPE officers and a standard configuration by another.
Ruger Mini-14
Ruger Mini-14 rifles are used in several scenes by the drug dealers.
IMBEL M968 MosqueFAL
The new BOPE recruits can be seen training with the IMBEL M968 "MosqueFAL".
Unidentified Rifle
In the opening scenes, Neto opens fire with an unidentified scoped rifle. It may be an IMBEL AGLC or another M968 "MosqueFAL".
Shotguns
Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos Model 586P
CBC Model 586P shotguns are seen in the hands of the BOPE officers.
Mossberg 500
A Mossberg 500 with wood furniture and a ventilated ribbed barrel as well as a standard model can be seen in the hands of BOPE officers.
