:Well, the German government closed the tax loophole his old films exploited (apparently you used to be able to write off 100% of a movie's losses and only paid tax on profits, so the only way he'd have lost out is by breaking even) so now his movies have to actually be good enough to make money. - Well, the German government closed the tax loophole his old films exploited (apparently you used to be able to write off 100% of a movie's losses and only paid tax on profits, so the only way he'd have lost out is by breaking even) so now his movies have to actually be good enough to make money.
