26 Years (Korean title: 26년, 26 Nyeon) is a 2012 South Korean historical thriller-drama film based on the 2006 webcomic of the same name by Kang Full. The film is set in 2006, 26 years after military dictator Chun Doo-hwan and the South Korean military violently suppressed the protesting citizens of the city of Gwangju in the Gwangju Uprising. The film follows a group of five people close to those who were killed during the incident as they plan and execute a plot to assassinate the still alive and heavily-guarded Chun Doo-hwan (Jang Gwang).
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
The following weapons were used in the film 26 Years:
Pistols
Colt M1911A1
Multiple characters throughout the film, mainly Chun Doo-hwan's guards, use the Colt M1911A1 as their sidearm.
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Multiple police officers throughout the film use the Smith & Wesson Model 10.
Unknown revolvers
Multiple unknown revolvers are seen throughout the film's climax.
Assault Rifles
Colt M16A1
The South Korean Army is accurately depicted using the Colt M16A1 in the Gwangju Uprising throughout the film's animated prologue.
Sniper Rifles
Mk 12 Mod 1 SPR (mockup)
Shim Mi-jin (Han Hye-jin) is given a sniper rifle based on the Mk 12 Mod 1 SPR (that appears to be built on a Colt M16A1's lower receiver) which she uses throughout the latter half of the film. Of note is that Kwak Jin-bae refers to the rifle as a "modified M-16" (which is true to an extent), and that the rifle doesn't sound suppressed, despite its attached suppressor.
Semi-Automatic Rifles
M1 Garand
An M1 Garand fitted with a bayonet briefly appears in the film's animated prologue.
Others
Air rifle
Olympic shooter Shim Mi-jin (Han Hye-jin) uses an air rifle throughout the first half of the film.
