The weapon was developed in 1914 during WW1 but manufacturing was delayed under the belief the war would be over quickly; so the grenade was first issued in 1915. The Model 1914 Ball Grenade is a French grenade. It is an improvement of the earlier 1847 ball grenade. The weapon was developed in 1914 during WW1 but manufacturing was delayed under the belief the war would be over quickly; so the grenade was first issued in 1915.
