Civil War is a 2024 American action war film directed by Alex Garland. Set in the near future, the film takes place during a rapidly escalating Second American Civil War, where the tyrannical President of the United States (Nick Offerman) fortifies himself and his loyalists in Washington, D.C. as the secessionist Western Forces close in. Seasoned photojournalist Lee Smith (Kirsten Dunst) joins the Western Forces army to document the war, followed by fellow journalists Joel (Wagner Moura) and Jessie (Cailee Spaeny). The group is determined to interview the President before the conflict concludes. Along the way, the trio witnesses the devastation of the Second Civil War firsthand, and become ever more active participants in the conflict.

Browning Hi-Power
A Browning Hi-Power is seen when Lee has a flashback to her previous experiences covering foreign conflicts.
Glock 19
A Western Forces commando draws his Glock 19 when checking the rooftops for the mortar teams to set up. Another WF commando uses a Glock 19 to exchange fire with Secret Service agents when his Colt LE Carbine runs dry during the battle inside the White House. What appears to be a Glock is drawn by a Secret Service agent covering the escape for the "Beast's" limousine.

Secret Service agents use Heckler & Koch MP5K submachine guns while defending the White House.
Heckler & Koch MP5A2
A Secret Service agent is seen with a Heckler & Koch MP5A2 while fighting Western Forces troops.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
In a continuity error, a Secret Service agent's MP5A2 changes into a Heckler & Koch MP5A3, as the fixed stock is seen just before and during Jesse taking a picture of the action, then changes to a retractable stock is most notable extended when he gets shot by Western Forces in the White House shootout.

Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine
An unnamed Nationalist militiaman (Jesse Plemons) is armed with a Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine with a EOTech XPS2 holographic sight, 30 round STANAG magazine and KAC quad picatinny rail handguard. Another Nationalist is also armed with an identically set up rifle.
Colt Law Enforcement Carbine
An armed militiaman at a gas station holds a Colt Law Enforcement Carbine with a tan EOTech XPS holographic sight, tan LMT rear sight, tan STANAG magazine, tan KAC quad rail handguard, tan flashlight and tan LE stock on a black reciever (pistol grip, front sight and stepped barrel) when Lee's crew stop by for fuel. During the battle of Washington D.C., a Western Forces commando squad leader carries a Colt Law Enforcement Carbine with a tan EOTech XPS holographic sight, tan LMT rear sight, camouflage painted KAC quad rail handguard, flashlight and camouflage painted LE stock when reinforcing the assault to the White House. Its notable by the 16 inch stepped barrel briefly visible when Lee and her crew enter pass the gate before the WF soldiers. The female WF soldier's M4A1 changes into a Colt LE Carbine inside the White House.
Colt M4A1
Soldiers of the United States and the Western Forces both commonly carry M4A1 carbines is throughout the film, mostly fitted with a variety of EOTech holographic sights and/or Trijicon TA31 ACOG scopes, KAC quad rail handguards, some AN/PEQ-15 laser designators, RIS foregrips and flashlights, most notably during the battle of Washington D.C. and the storming of the White House.
Colt Mk 18 Mod 0
Several 'Boogaloo' militia fighters carry Mk 18 Mod 0 carbines during an assault on a Federal position in the university shootout, notably by one of them who is pinned down and subsequently shot; this militiaman's carbine has a EOTech 551 holographic sight, UTG quad rail handguard and LE stock. Western Forces also carry Mk 18 Mod 0 carbines during the battle in Washington, D.C., mostly fitted with EOTech 551 holographic sights and RIS foregrips.
Colt Model 933
Several U.S. soldiers and 'Boogaloo' militiamen appear to use Colt Model 933 carbines throughout the film.
AR-15 carbine
A Western Forces commando uses an AR-15 rifle with a long railed handguard and at least 16" barrel during the battle in Washington, D.C.
Noveske N4 Diplomat
What appears to be a Noveske N4 Diplomat with an EOTech 551 holographic sight, flashlight, camouflage tape wrapped around the handguard (for a smooth griping point) and on the Vltor EMOD buttstock is carried and fired by a red hawaiian shirt 'Boogaloo' militiaman during a shootout at the university. This AR features a different 'flat' profile forward assist differing from standard AR forward assists.
AR-15 Variants
Numerous AR-15 variants with various attachments in different configurations are used by militia fighters and soldiers throughout the film, including one rifle with a Troy Alpha rail free float handguard and an EOTech XPS2 holographic sight and magnifier carried by a militiaman at a gas station .
AR-15 Variant (possibly Palmetto State Armory or SVRN)
A Western Forces radio operator can be seen carrying a custom AR-15 variant carbine outfitted with a EOTech XPS holographic sight, Keymod handguard, flashlight, Magpul AFG grip and Magpul MOE buttstock during the assault of the White House.
AK variant
A long haired 'Boogaloo' militiaman appears to be carrying an AKM type rifle with black synthetic furniture, flared magwell and a Crane SOPMOD buttstock with buffer tube during a shootout at the university.
Sniper Rifles
Aero Precision M5
Custom sniper rifles based on an Aero Precision M5E1 Gen 1 upper receiver and a MAS Defense AR-10 lower receiver are used by various snipers during the film. The upper receiver can be recognized by the Aero Precision logo on the bolt carrier group and the M5E1 Enhanced gen 1 handguard.
The handguard vent pattern and slightly raised keymod rail identify this as an Aero Precision M5 Enhanced Gen 1 handguard. The magazine well shape identifies the lower receiver as a MAS Defense AR-10 lower receiver.
Remington M24
A sniper is seen setting up a M24 Sniper Rifle during the battle in Washington, D.C.
Machine Guns
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2HB is seen mounted on various vehicles. Western Forces troops use M2HBs mounted on Humvees and mock-up M1A1 Abrams tanks while assaulting Washington, D.C.
M240B
M240B machine guns are used by militia fighters and soldiers. A M240B mounted on a Humvee is used when Western Forces troops attack the White House.
Mk 48 Mod 0
Western Forces soldiers assaulting the White House carry Mk 48 Mod 0 machine guns with a collapsible stock and are distinguishable by the older rail handguard heatshield and heavy barrel for 7.62x51mm NATO.
Other
Carl Gustav M4
Federal forces use a Carl Gustav M4 Recoilless Rifle while defending the White House.
FGM-148 Javelin
A Western Forces soldier uses a FGM-148 Javelin to destroy a Federal position at the Lincoln Memorial.
M224 Mortar
Several Western Forces carry then use 60mm M224 Mortars during the battle of Washington D.C.
M230 Chain Gun
AH-64 Apaches with its M230 Chain Gun is seen being fired in the film's climatic battle of Washington D.C., however when fired it's sound profile is more close to a minigun rather than the slowed 625rpm the real M230 fires at.
