The Avengers is a 1961 television spy series that was a production of ABC Television (Associated British Corporation, which eventually was merged into Thames Television). For the majority of the series, The Avengers focused on the exploits of secret agent John Steed (Patrick Macnee), who was routinely paired up with a female counterpart in order to protect Great Britain from internal and external foes. The show ran from 1961 to 1969 across 6 seasons for a total of 161 episodes. A feature film adaptation was released in 1998 that starred Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery.
